Biography and credits: James graduated from Central School of Speech and Drama with an MA in Scriptwriting and has since gone on to write for TV, theatre and podcasts.
His sitcom pilot Blue Sky Thinking won the Sitcom Mission prize in 2015, and is now in development with Hat Trick Productions.
He is currently writing on The Amazing World of Gumball for Great Marlborough Productions / Cartoon Network.
In 2014 he was a runner up for the BAFTA Rocliffe New Comedy Showcase for his script Nightclub Nanny. His previous TV sitcom Kettle of Fish was a finalist in the PAGE International Screenwriting Competition 2013. He was in the writer's room for Big Talk's sitcom Brotherhood for Comedy Central.
He has co-written the comedy podcast Hector vs The Future with James Hamilton, with a cast including members of sketch comedy group Casual Violence.
In theatre, his play Star-Crossed was part of the 2015 Arcola Theatre’s Playwrought festival, and his short play Waifu was part of Courting Drama at the Southwark Playhouse in January. He is developing both plays for future productions.
His play Red Jungle Fowl was at the 2014 Edinburgh Festival, where it received positive reviews, and a short run followed in London. His short plays have been on at Theatre 503 and the Bush, and full-length production Splinters was at the Ovalhouse as part of their FiRST BiTES season in February 2014, and he is now working with director Amy Draper for a full show in 2016.
He adapted the book Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus for a UK tour for Sally Humphreys Productions in 2012. His plays Clint’s Reality and Poets’ Corner ran at previous Edinburgh Festivals, with the latter transferring to Innsbruck.
He is also the dramaturg for Theatre Renegade, which involves him programming a regular short plays night at the Southwark Playhouse and script editing the company's productions.
