Agent: Tom Witcomb

Biography: Mike trained and worked as a journalist before switching to public relations and holding senior roles with Amnesty International, the BBC and the National Health Service. Since 2014 he has run his own public relations consultancy, Blakemore Communications Limited.

The five years or so he spent as a reporter saw Mike cover some of the biggest stories of the time, including two tragedies just months apart in 1987 – the sinking of the Herald of Free Enterprise ferry at Zeebrugge and the fatal shootings that took place in Hungerford, Berkshire.

Three years ago Mike decided to use his journalistic skills to research and write a biography of Pemba Doma Sherpa, the first Nepalese woman to climb Mount Everest from Tibet as well as her home country. He could never have imagined what a remarkable and moving story he would soon be caught up in telling.
