Ray Brooking

Ray has been writing professionally since 1995. He started on The Bill, has written for Casualty, Eastenders and River City, and is a core writer on Doctors: he’s written over 90 episodes of the daytime drama, including half a dozen hour-long specials. In 2004 his 75 minute episode ‘Say A Little Prayer’ won ‘Best Single Episode’ at the British Soap Awards and was nominated for a RTS Award.

Between 1996 and 2000 he won four awards from the PAWS Drama Fund with his original television series ideas, and his original movie script Granny Smith is currently in development. Ray is currently developing some new original ideas for TV drama series: AGATHA is a fresh take on Agatha Christie, looking at her early life, and THE HOPE is a light drama looking at the genesis of the health service.
