Bio: Robert Hudson writes the books for musicals and his adaptation of PG Wodehouse's novel A DAMSEL IN DISTRESS, featuring Gershwin songs, co-written with Jeremy Sams, has its world premiere at the Chichester Festival Theatre in June 2015 directed by Tony, Olivier and Emmy Award winning director Rob Ashford and starring Richard Fleeshman and Summer Strallen.

Robert’s other musicals include adaptations of THE DIARY OF A PROVINCIAL LADY (Network Theatre, 2014), MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING MUCH (Pleasance Theatre, 2008), SHERLOCK HOLMES (THE EARLY YEARS) (book with Kate Ferguson, won 2007 Theatre for the American Musical award, New York Musical Futures) and FARM! (Greenwich Theatre, 2003).

He writes comedy, including Radio 4’s gay equine epistolary military romance, WARHORSES OF LETTERS (three series, with Marie Phillips) and also runs a bi-monthly comedy night in Kilburn that has debuted several shows which went on to radio and television, written by the likes of John Finnemore, Benet Brandreth, Toby Davies and Ian Leslie.

He is also the author of two novels, THE KILBURN SOCIAL CLUB (‘an enormously enjoyable, adept and, above all, confident debut’ - Patrick Neate, The Guardian) and THE DAZZLE (‘terrific … fizzy, funny, fantastical’ - Allan Massie, The Scotsman) both of which are published by Jonathan Cape / Vintage. Robert's novels are represented by Conville & Walsh.
