Biography: Yomi Adegoke began her journalistic journey with the creation of a blog: when it went on to be awarded ‘Blog of the Week’ by the Huffington Post’s Student’s section, she decided writing was her calling. After numerous internships, work placements and contributory roles, she went on in 2013 to found Birthday Magazine, a publication aimed at BAME teenage girls, hoping to address the imbalance in representation for that demographic. She has since gone on to write for The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Huffington Post, The Independent and The Debrief, amongst others.
After a stint at ITN’s new digital news venture V.Point news, Yomi moved to Channel 4 news where she now works as a producer. She has been nominated for an Online Media Award for blogging and commentary, as well as two Comment awards for Young Commentator of the Year and Media Commentator of the Year. She has done various media appearances, including speaking on BBC Breakfast, London Live, BBC Woman’s Hour, BBC Drivetime, Sky News and BBC Radio 4.
Yomi is writing her first book with co-author Elizabeth Uviebinene, a self-help book that speaks to them as young, black, twenty-something women navigating relationships and a career.
