Biography: Muriel Mhairie Macleod was born and brought up in the traditional Gaelic culture of the Western Isles of Scotland.   She has lived in the Caribbean, where she still maintains strong cultural connections, and has travelled the world extensively, including spending time in the USA.  She graduated in Fine Art and is a distinguished artist and animation film producer and was for 9 years Director of the British Fulbright Scholars Association.  She was editor of the BFSA magazine and for over 20 years illustrated articles for the Times Educational Supplement.
