Agent: Juliet Pickering

Biography: Ex-MI6 Colonel, who became a best-selling thriller author. Len Deighton described Allbeury as ‘Truly a classic writer of espionage fiction.’ Desmond Bagley said of one of his books: ‘The best novel of espionage I have ever read.’
Allbeury’s thrillers are tense and realistic; he wrote with economy and a fine sense of drama. Several titles have been optioned for film and television. He also developed into a successful script-writer and short-story writer, and adapted three novels for BBC radio drama serials.
One novel (NO PLACE TO HIDE) was televised in 1992 and reprinted by Severn House in 2003 under the new title HOSTAGE, and a film based on an Allbeury character was made starring Michael Caine, released under the title BLUE ICE in 1992.
All 41 novels, and his volume of short stories, were reissued by Mulholland in English in 2013-14, as ebooks and print-on-demand.
Ted Allbeury died in December 2005.
