Brennig was shortlisted for the BBC Wales Writer in Residence before being accepted onto the 2021-22 BBC Writersroom Drama Group. While being a member of the group, Brennig was part of the THE DUMPING GROUND Shadow Writing Scheme with CBBC and took part in the BBC’s CASUALTY Writer Development Program.  

Brennig’s other notable achievements include winning the 2021 Bluecat Screenwriting Contest Fellini Award for best international screenplay for his feature screenplay CWTCH and being a top three finalist in the Final Draft Big Break Screenplay Awards. He also won the Gold Prize at the 2015 Page International Screenwriting Awards and placed in the semi-finals of the Academy’s Nicholls Fellowship.

In summer 2023, Brennig was selected to direct a short film as part of the ‘It’s My Shout’ scheme, which will receive its premier on BBC Wales later in the year.

Brennig is from a working-class background in South Wales; despite being the grandson, son and brother of steel workers he opted to be the first in his family to go to university and enter the TV/Film industry. As well as being a writer/director, Brennig has 12 years’ experience working in the industry as an assistant director. Prior to entering the industry, Brennig studied a master’s degree in Cardiff, and attained a BA Hons. in digital filmmaking.
