LITERARY AGENCY MEDIA ASSISTANT (APRIL 2025)
Blake Friedmann is an energetic, inclusive and collaborative literary agency with a wide range of authors and scriptwriters.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to assist with the agency’s work: we are seeking an assistant to provide support to the two senior Media Department agents in a part-time role of 3 days per week. The role can offer flexible working hours at our Highbury office within our office opening times, and days to suit the right candidate between Monday - Thursday.
Duties in this role include:
Media Admin
• Arranging remote and in-person meetings
• Attending some meetings, taking notes and following up
• Attending client and industry events
• Responding to rights checks from producers / scouts
• Sending requested material to producers / scouts
• Entering submissions into Bradbury Phillips database (Brad)
• Raising invoices
• Raising reports on presales, invoices, contracts
• Finding emails / contact details for producers
• Organising DocuSign for contracts
• Sending mail outs to producers
• Sending out submissions on behalf of agents
Editorial
• Reading and reporting on screenplays
• Reading manuscripts for book-to-film potential
• Updating clients’ website pages
• Writing media news stories for company website
• Writing draft pitches for book submissions
Although we hope to make the role as varied as we can, and to support the candidate’s learning about the film and television industry more widely, we are looking for someone highly organised, preferably with office admin/industry experience, who doesn’t mind logging submissions, invoicing and carrying out some other administrative tasks. The role requires full presence (3 days) in our office for the first 6 months, for training purposes, and then there is some hybrid flexibility thereafter (2 days in office/1 day remote).
We all work closely as a team and are looking to find a new colleague who is keen to learn about the world of agenting, has a passion for film, television and books, and will be a steady, dependable pair of hands. We, in turn, would love to nurture your talent and introduce you to the industry, and to our clients, offering you a firm grounding in the work of a busy, friendly and thriving agency.
Please send a 500-word personal statement making clear your experience, ambitions and what you can offer the role, plus a CV if possible, to applications@blakefriedmann.co.uk.
The deadline for applications is 23.59 GMT on Wednesday 14th of May, and we will be in touch with shortlisted candidates before 17.30 on Wednesday 21st of May. We will consider applications and contact candidates for interview as applications arrive, so please apply as soon as possible.
The salary will be £28,000 per annum, pro rata for a 3-day week. You will be offered generous annual leave pro-rata, plus company benefits like season-ticket loans, cycle-to-work vouchers, subsidised eye tests and access to online staff advisory services, as well as the company pension scheme.
