WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT by Sheila O’Flanagan PUBLISHED TODAY BY HEADLINE

Sunday Times and Irish Times bestselling author Sheila O'Flanagan's gripping new novel WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT is published in the UK and Ireland today by Headline! Audiobook fans can also download the audiobook, read by popular O’Flanagan narrator Aoife McMahon.

Sometimes two wrongs do make a right...

Then: Lola Fitzpatrick is bright and ambitious, but also headstrong and stubborn, a young woman with big dreams. When she catches the eye of wealthy jeweller Philip Warren, she can't resist his charm and confidence. Could life get any better? Not everyone is convinced... But then everything changes, and Lola is faced with decisions that will have long-term consequences she can't even begin to imagine.

Now: Bey has inherited Lola's determined nature, but her impulsive decisions place her in danger. A shocking family tragedy forces her to fly to Dublin from beautiful Cordoba, Spain, and meet the Warren family. As she uncovers the difficult choices her mother made many years ago, Bey has to decide who she wants to be: a woman defined by the mistakes of the past, or someone brave enough to risk everything for the future she's always wanted.

Sheila’s most recent novel THE MISSING WIFE, published in paperback on 9 March, has been a huge success, shooting to the No. 1 bestseller spot in Ireland and No. 4 in the Sunday Times Paperback Fiction list in its first week of sales. The paperback has now sold over 35,000 copies in the UK, and has broken the Irish writer’s already impressive record for the number of weeks in Ireland’s Top 5. It is currently at No. 4 on the Irish fiction paperback list. In Australia and New Zealand THE MISSING WIFE and MY MOTHER’S SECRET also hit No. 1 and No. 2 on the iBooks Charts this week.

THE MISSING WIFE will be published in the US in February 2018 by Grand Central, and rights have been sold in the Czech Republic, Russia, Estonia and Germany.

WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT is another sure-fire bestseller and has already received enthusiastic five-star reviews on Amazon:

‘It is not the conventional romcom. The heroine genuinely is not dependent on a man (unlike most of her romcom contemporaries who might shout about independence and feminism but fall into the hero's arms with remarkable ease) and lives life on her own terms. I hope this is an indication of where the top end of the romcom genre is heading. I shall be looking out for more books by Sheila O’Flanagan.’

‘I very much enjoyed the complexity of the relationships with the characters, not just with Bey and Lola, but with their extended wealthy family. A fantastic read, you won’t put it down.’

Sheila O’Flanagan is the award-winning author of over twenty novels, including THE MISSING WIFE, MY MOTHER’S SECRET, IF YOU WERE ME, ALL FOR YOU (winner of the Irish Popular Fiction Book of the Year Award) and BAD BEHAVIOUR, as well as the bestselling short story collections DESTINATIONS, CONNECTIONS and A SEASON TO REMEMBER.

In 2016 Hodder Children’s Books published THE CRYSTAL RUN, her first book for younger readers. The paperback came out in May 2017, with the follow-up THE CRYSTAL RUN: SHIELD OF LIES due in 2018.

Sheila was awarded the prestigious Irish Tatler Woman of the Year Award in 2003, and currently lives in Dublin with her husband. Her books have sold over 6.5 million copies in English alone.

The arrival of THE HUSBAND HUNTERS in the UK, as De Courcy, Weidenfeld & St Martins set their sights on CHANEL’S RIVIERA

On 1 June Weidenfeld & Nicolson publish the UK edition of THE HUSBAND HUNTERS: Social Climbing in London & New York, Anne de Courcy’s sparkling social history of the 'Dollar Princesses' – the young American heiresses who married into the English aristocracy, rescuing crumbling castles and failing estates and gaining titles in return. UK readers can buy W&N’s beautiful hardback and download the audiobook, read by Clare Corbett.

St Martins Press will publish THE HUSBAND HUNTERS in the US in 2018. Charlie Spicer of St Martins and Alan Samson of Weidenfeld have also snapped up Anne’s new project CHANEL’S RIVIERA, for publication in 2020.

British readers are in for another De Courcy treat with THE HUSBAND HUNTERS as she tells how from 1874 – the year that Jennie Jerome, the first known 'Dollar Princess', married Randolph Churchill – to 1905, dozens of young American heiresses married into the British peerage, bringing with them all the fabulous wealth, glamour and sophistication of the Gilded Age. Anne de Courcy sets the stories of these young women and their families in the context of their times and vividly portrays a world where buying a swift route up the social ladder was the order of the day. Based on extensive first-hand research, drawing on diaries, memoirs and letters, this is a richly entertaining and revealing group biography.

CHANEL’S RIVIERA promises to be an equally enthralling take on stormy seasons on the French Riviera, with all the glamour and glitz of the high life interrupted by the outbreak of World War II. From the last golden fling of 1939 and the first Cannes Film Festival, which had to be suspended, to the first post-war festival of cinema, Anne de Courcy will tell another riveting tale, with its glossy motley crew, set against dark times. A fascinating cast includes Winston Churchill, the Windsors, Edith Wharton, Aldous Huxley, P.G. Wodehouse, Somerset Maugham, and of course Coco Chanel.

Anne de Courcy is a best-selling biographer, acclaimed for her first-hand research and engaging books, which not only tell the stories of her subjects’ lives, but depict the social history of the period. Her biographies include THE VICEROY’S DAUGHTERS, DIANA MOSLEY, DEBS AT WAR and SNOWDON. MARGOT AT WAR: LOVE AND BETRAYAL IN DOWNING STREET, 1912-1916 was shortlisted for the Paddy Power Political Book of the Year Award. THE FISHING FLEET spent many weeks on the Sunday Times bestseller list and has been optioned for film and TV, with rights to THE HUSBAND HUNTERS also under negotiation.

What makes a killer? NEED YOU DEAD, 13th in Roy Grace series, published today!

After a brilliant Brighton launch party, NEED YOU DEAD, the 13th book in Peter James’ no. 1 bestselling Roy Grace series, is published in hardback by Pan Macmillan in the UK and Canada today. It is also published in audio, and will be out in the US on 6 June and in Australia on 20 May.

Lorna Belling, desperate to escape the marriage from hell, falls for the charms of another man who promises her the earth. But, as Lorna finds, life seldom follows the plans you’ve made. A chance photograph on a client’s mobile phone changes everything for her.

When the body of a woman is found in a bath in Brighton, Detective Superintendent Roy Grace is called to the scene. At first it looks an open-and-shut case with a clear prime suspect. Then other scenarios begin to present themselves, each of them tantalizingly plausible, until, in a sudden turn of events, and to his utter disbelief, the case turns more sinister than Grace could ever have imagined.

Last week the blog tour kicked off with a phenomenal start with Kim the Bookworm writing ‘Thoroughly entertaining and brilliantly written, I can definitely see why this series is so flipping successful.’ and Material Witness stating: ‘It’s classic Grace and classic Peter James, another lively chapter in a series that has maintained a high pace, high readability and high quality since the start.’

NEED YOU DEAD is already receiving stunning reviews, with Shotsmag saying ‘In Roy Grace, we have a character with enough clout to carry along almost any plot… Peter James parades an assortment of suspects in front of you, each with a compelling case as to why it could be them, making for a real page-turner.’

Further confirming Peter’s crime fiction credentials, Detective Investigator Pat Lanigan, Office of the District Attorney, NYPD said: “In my thirty four years of policing, never have I come across a writer who so accurately depicts ‘The Job’.”

It has been a brilliant year for Peter, with the 12th Roy Grace novel LOVE YOU DEAD spending 5 weeks at the top of the bestseller chart upon publication last October. He was also awarded the Crime Writers’ Association Diamond Dagger award, one of the most prestigious awards in crime writing.

NEED YOU DEAD has sold in Germany, Russia and Finland and the Roy Grace series has been translated into 37 languages, with 18 million copies of Peter James’ books sold worldwide.
