Nic Ransome is a screenwriter, script editor and educator with over 20 years of professional experience. As screenwriter he has written episodes of Holby City (BBC One) and Freefonix (CBBC/BBC One). He has developed shows for, among others, Silver Pictures Television, Starz, Artists Studio, Tandem Communications, Bentley Productions and Carlton Television. He has also been commissioned to write feature screenplays and to create online and branded narrative content.

He ran development at the recapitalized Hammer Films, working on The Woman In Black and Wake Wood. As script editor and story/development consultant he has worked internationally on numerous feature, TV and digital projects for funding bodies, production companies, producers, directors and writers.

As educator he has delivered screenwriting and genre seminars internationally. He has taught on M.A. Screenwriting degrees and guest lectured at film schools, including at the NFTS. He was Deputy Editor of ScriptWriter Magazine from its 2001 launch through 2006.

He studied Drama at The University of Manchester, gaining a First Class B.A. (Hons.), then was awarded Distinction in his M.A., Creative Writing for Film & Television from The University of Sheffield.

2019/20 – Story adaptation/development and writing team, Lunenburg (TV series crime drama; based on the novel by Keith Baker), UK/Canada co-production.  

2015-2016 – Co-developed multiple TV drama projects with writer-director David Keating (Last Of The High Kings, Wake Wood) for ITV Studios.  

2014 – Co-created a comedy-drama web series with composer/music producer Magnus Fiennes (Hustle; Freefonix). Commissioned in Los Angeles by a major food company.  

2013 – Co-wrote a transmedia thriller (9 x 20mins.) with Magnus Fiennes. Commissioned in Los Angeles by Hooked Digital Media (Haunting Melissa).  

2012 – Co-developed and story-edited an event two-parter (2 x 90mins.) with bestselling novelist Raymond Khoury (The Last Templar). Commissioned by Power (Flood).  

2010 – Pitched an original half-hour comedy thriller around Los Angeles through CAA. Show bible commissioned by Starz.  

2010 – Co-developed a one-hour supernatural drama for Silver Pictures Television in Los Angeles. Show repped by WME.  

2010 – Script editor/development on UK/Canada multi-film horror slate for Executive Producers Patrick Irwin and Justin Thomson-Glover.  

2009 – Co-developed a one-hour drama with Raymond Khoury for Artists Studio (Thorne; The Fall) and Tandem Communications (The Pillars of The Earth).  

2009 – Co-developed Bernard Cornwell’s bestselling “Saxon Stories” books for TV with Artists Studio.
