peter cundall

Agent: Julian Friedmann

Peter Cundall was born in LA to English parents. He spent half his childhood between Malibu and Santa Monica and was then brought to Hull – the first of many life changing experiences. A year later he came to London for the second half of his childhood and what little conventional education he had before becoming an errand boy in an ad agency to help his parents pay the rent.

He progressed into Production, then Traffic and then spent five years in different roles, including playing semi-professionally in jazz bands, being a lifeguard, and serving in HQ Bomber Command . He was also briefly a co-owner of a restaurant in Holland Park. These experiences would all supply the writer-to-be with an unusual palette to draw from.

And then, at last, decided he wanted to do just one thing as well as he could. One year later he was living in New York and a writer in J. Walter Thompson, then the world’s largest ad agency. Since then, Peter has written advertising, poetry, as well as for film and television. Julian Friedmann represents him for screenwriting.

Peter has had commissions from Associated British Pictures, BBC, Thames TV and Channel 4. Peter wrote two series (24 episodes in total) of ANITA IN JUMBLELAND, a highly successful children’s TV series for Thames TV. He also wrote and devised a TV series called NUTSHELL CLASSICS for Channel 4. After the pilot “Treasure Island” was produced, Channel 4 commissioned three further scripts.

Peter wrote the documentary IN FOR A PENNY, IN FOR A POUND which had a UK cinema release and THE ALMOST NEARLY NOT QUITE SURE THING -a one hour US Network Documentary, for which Peter was flown to New York to write. Peter also wrote THE SKY’S THE LIMIT, a Comedy film feature ICI starring Tim McInnerny.
