Peter Mills

Agent:  Conrad Williams

Biography: Peter came to scriptwriting comparatively later in life.  As Chief Officer of a local authority running a health and welfare dept, he was made redundant following a change in political regime. At home he watched TV and wondered if he could do that.  After 120 TV credits the answer was yes!

From THE BILL to CASUALTY via TAGGART, CORONATION STREET, HEARTBEAT and a host of others, he has gathered an eclectic range of experiences encompassing most the genres on modern TV.  He has won two BAFTAS as part of the core writing teams of CASUALTY and CORONATION STREET, and his Radio 4 afternoon drama, WHO CARES, was award nominated and was the Radio Times Drama of the Week.  It is currently being adapted for the stage.

His comedy drama SHANGRI BLEEDING LA was recently highlighted at the Norwich Playhouse, as part of the Writers Guild Imperfect Storms’ showcase of new writing.

He has had a number of original pieces optioned by independent production companies as well as the BBC and ITV. Although semi-retired from contributing to existing shows, he continues to develop original work, relishing the opportunities to do this now.
