Biography: Edward died in Sussex in 2003 at the age of 89. Anne Tyler said that his posthumously published memoir of going to live with the Inuit at 16, THE LAST OF THE GENTLEMEN ADVENTURERS, ‘reads like the most riveting novel’ and Sir Ranulph Fiennes described it as ‘beautifully written’. 

Also the author of a novel TALAYSA: AN INUIT GIRL OF THE NINETEEN TWENTIES (manuscript available).
