Biography: Jayne Kirkham is a screenwriter and script consultant with over thirty years’ experience working with and writing for children and young people. She has written for a wide range of formats including animation, live action features, radio, apps, and picture books.

Jayne’s credits include BING AND TEE AND MO and a feature length adaptation of Marina Lewycka’s darkly comic political novel TWO CARAVANS. She has abridged novels and stories for Toniebox and wrote several episodes for Cartoon Network’s series TOAD AND FRIENDS, and BBC/RTE's MADDIE+TRIGGS. She is currently working on Maddie and Triggs season 2.

Jayne’s original commissions in other media include poetry and short stories for Cbeebies and the interpretations for Blackpool’s new museum of Fun and Entertainment: Showtown, which opened in 2024.

Jayne was a lecturer at the Northern Film School for fourteen years and served as the Writers' Guild Children's chair. She is also a member of BAFTA, and is a member of the board for the Children’s Media Foundation.

Jayne’s writing is full of warmth and whimsy and reflects her love of the outdoors, wildlife, and adventure. For many years she was a UKCC L2 paddle sport coach and an outdoor activity worker for West Berkshire District Council, Princes Trust and the Scout Association. Jayne now works for the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge and has quite possibly the best job title in the world: part-time canoe safari warden, which is in fact quite possibly the best job in the world.
