Biography:

Mark Chadbourn is a ‘The Times’ best-selling author and the winner of several literary awards.  Published in the UK by Random House, his novels have also appeared in the US, Japan, France, Germany, Norway, the Czech Republic, Poland and across the Commonwealth.  Under his historical fiction pseudonym, James Wilde, his novel ‘Hereward’ about the Eleventh Century English hero, became a hardback bestseller in 2011.  He is a two-time winner of the prestigious British Fantasy Award, for his novella The Fairy Feller’s Master Stroke based on the painting by Richard Dadd, and for his short story, Whisper Lane.  The Dadd novella resulted in an invitation to lecture at Tate Britain.

As a contract writer for the BBC Drama Doctors, he has written over fifty episodes of the popular medical series, and he has also developed original series ideas with BBC Drama Development.

Clerkenwell Films have optioned his hi-tech crime series pilot SHADOW STATE.

Praise for Mark Chadbourn’s novels:

“Think the spirit of V for Vendetta mixed with Neal Stephenson’s historicism and infused by the spirit of Shakespeare’s Puck.” – Edge magazine

“…an author whose work has redefined the boundaries of dark fantasy. The colossal story has never been less than fascinating, and at times easily rivaled the most riveting, original work of the genre.” – SF Site

“An immense work of scope and majesty. What appeals about the book is the author’s ability to deal in myth and to apply it to a modern story. . . . The story is gripping, the characters involving, and the main villain is a nasty piece of work.” – The Specusphere

"Combining the best elements of a spy thriller, heroic fantasy and Elizabethan mystery, Chadbourn deftly mixes gruesome brutality, a shadowy world of plots and counter-plots and a vivid cast of characters. Seamlessly weaving historic figures and events into his fictional world, the author creates an alternate reality as tangible and authentic as the history we think we know. Not just a lightweight adventure novel, this book forces the reader to confront timely issues like the value of torture and the use of evil in the pursuit of good, bringing a level of verisimilitude so fantastic and yet believable, you keep asking yourself if it might be true. In a year of outstanding fantasies, The Silver Skull may just be one of the best so far." Monsters and Critics
