Agent: Julian Friedmann
Biography: Paul is an award-winning actor, screenwriter, and playwright, who trained at LAMDA and has been active in 3 disciplines over a career spanning 40 years.
As an actor, he has had roles in major series like THE HONOURABLE WOMAN starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, SILO on Apple+, and most recently completed filming a major role in the international feature, THE TEACHER, written by the Oscar-nominated and BAFTA award-winning director, Farah Nabulsi.
His award-winning play THE DEAD WAIT, fuelled by his experience as a young South African conscript in the Angolan border war, was performed at the Royal Exchange, Manchester and at The Park, London. It was shortlisted for The Verity Bargate Award and Best Play at the Manchester Evening News, before being broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and published by Oberon Books. Paul is now re-developing as a feature, in development with FilmAfrika.
His screenplay ANNA’S STORY, inspired by real events, tells the story of a Czech-Jewish woman surviving pregnancy while incarcerated in three death camps. It was selected for the prestigious 2018 Brit-List, and is in development with Ecosse Films.
In 2020, he was commissioned by Elysium Theatre Company to write the short film THE MOTH, which went on to win Best Monologue at the Kwanzaa Film Festival, NYC, and was a finalist in 30 other International Film Festivals. Paul has now adapted it into a full-length play which is scheduled for major northern tour in 2025.
His play THE HORSE BENEATH THE ICE had a rehearsed reading starring Sir David Suchet at the JW3 in 2023. Paul has now been commissioned by The Ideas Foundry to adapt the play into a feature film.
Paul’s youth in apartheid-era South Africa, with a German refugee father, has given Paul plenty of material draw from. He likes to write stories which test moral dilemmas and explore how we choose to live.
