Biography: Petri Karra is a novelist, screenwriter, and producer whose work includes TIFF-selected films, bestselling novels, and internationally distributed TV drama. 

He writes stories that hurt, surprise, and make you laugh — sometimes all at once.

Petri Karra is a novelist, screenwriter, creator, playwright, and producer passionate about cinematic storytelling. He is the author of six novels and an original audiobook series. His stories often blend emotional intensity with dark humor — balancing psychological insight with sharply drawn characters and unexpected comedy.

Two of his novels — The House of Branching Love and Homecoming (based on Kotiinpaluu) — have been adapted into feature films. Petri also wrote the feature film Three Wise Men. The House of Branching Love and Three Wise Men, both directed by Mika Kaurismäki, were selected for TIFF.

He co-created and was credited as the second screenwriter on the pilot episode of A Good Family, a hit Finnish TV series based on his novel, now heading toward an English-language film adaptation. 

He wrote and Executive Produced his most recent feature film, Comeback (2023).
