Dublin based screenwriter, playwright and novelist Sheena Lambert’s debut feature film Báite is set to premiere at the Galway Film Festival in July 2025. Báite is an adaption of Lambert’s own novel THE LAKE (HarperCollins, 2015). The story is set in the rural village of Glanaphuca and follows protagonist Peggy Casey’s fight to save her family’s pub and her family itself. When a body is discovered in the receding waters of a local lake and Detective Frank Ryan of Dublin starts probing her with uncomfortable questions, Peggy’s life begins to unravel. Soon it becomes clear that nothing in Glanaphuca will be the same again.
Báite is produced by Danú Media with support from TG4, Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, and Coimisiún na Meán/The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland as part of the Cine4 scheme to produce feature-length original films in Irish. The film is directed by Ruán Mangan and the producers are Siobhán Ní Ghadhra and John Brady of Danú Media.
